Taken in Dhulikhel / Nepal. This woman with her baby was passing by me, i thought her red dress would give a very contrast look, but it didnt come as i expected. There was too much mist around the town.

but i like the photo :)

Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any tiny wayward or wrong bits of grass you may find on this artwork during an ultra-close-up zoom. I'm sure this composite is of utter perfection, but if you may happen to find a tiny blob that gives away the fact I am not really coming out of my landlady's painting on the wall of her landing, do not write to me at my home address. Or any address. Dziekuje.

N.B. The 'painting' shows a candid snap taken during my lakeside portraiture the other week.

thx to joe!

thx to everybody for your nice comments, favs and congrats!! i am so honored!!

i met this guy in one of the rooms staring through this open window. i don't know who he is. maybe somekind of caretaker. =)

third pic of the special places i mentioned.

i took this during a tour with mace2000. we went to the hornisgrinde, the highest point of the northern black forest (1.164 m / 3.819 ft.). this was inside an old, abandoned and decayed house.

meanwhile we found out that these houses were used by the french army from 1945 to 1996.

Sun Breaks Through, Mono Lake

Buck said: I took a lot of shots from my Mono Lake winter trip, so I'm posting a couple more perspectives because, well, I'm sorting through slides and I didn't take many new trips this summer so I don't have a lot of different stuff to upload! So there. The lake looks very calm but by the time I paddled to the other side the wind had the lake in a frenzy. The sun played peek-a-boo and I caught this shot as it peeked, but I caught some lens flare that I should probably Photoshop out, but I don't Photoshop very well.

Canon Elan 7; Canon 17-40mm lens; Fuji Velvia 50 film; polarizer; 3-stop hard GND filter to keep the sun from completely blowing out the pic.

Its gleaming spire is thickly plated in gold and liberally crowned with diamonds, rubies and other precious gems. The Shwedagon Pagoda was built to house sacred hairs of Buddha.
The pagoda stands nearly 100-meters (300-feet) high on top of a strategic hill. This allows it to command the skyline of Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the capital of Myanmar (formerly Burma).
Nighttime spotlights give the Shwedagon Pagoda an entirely different visual aura - its golden surface glows as if internally lit.
An eye-catching complex of religious buildings closely surround the Shwedagon Pagoda, making the setting even more enthralling.

At the Magic Kingdom they have a fireworks show every night called "Wishes"-- it is amazing, strangely very moving, and a pleasure to photograph. More from my recent visit to the Happiest Place on Earth here.
